We are beyond fortunate to have Bruce Cummings as one of the voices on our P2SUP and P2Walk recordings. His innate warmth, humor and keen appreciation for the power of words resonate within the recordings. He lives in Bend, Oregon, where he continues to write and to narrate a variety of video productions. Our paths crossed when we were the most “mature” (most-elder) among the yogis practicing at Groove Yoga in Bend. I don’t think Bruce has ever met a stranger. He’s a great friend to so many, and actively supports community organizations that help both people – and animals.
Bruce has won national and local Emmy Awards over his 30-plus years as a broadcast journalist. Most of his career was spent at NBC Nightly News, where he worked as a senior producer with Tom Brokaw and then Brian Williams.
Bruce spent 18 of those years in NBC’s Washington, D.C. bureau, managing the reporting of correspondents and producers covering the White House, the Hill, State, the Pentagon and all federal agencies. He was known for his focus, integrity, vast knowledge of politics and history and his ability to make complex issues easily understood through clear and concise writing.
Bruce also has done extensive work as a narrator of a wide variety of television productions and a voice-over artist for a vast range of commercials and on-air promos.
Cynthia LaRoche of Cynthia LaRoche Yoga, teaches both strong alignment based vinyasa flow and restorative yoga classes in Bend, OR. She facilitates workshops nationally, teaches one-on-one and group private sessions to those wishing to deepen their practice and leads retreats in Mexico. In each of her classes you will find: a theme weaved through to allow for the conscious knowing of your own inner strength; tools to navigate the challenges of everyday life; a carefully sequenced class, sometimes strong and powerful other times relaxing and restorative; precise alignment cues; meditation and breath work.
The foundation of her career as an instructor was shaped in 2005 at the Himalayan Institute where she took her first 200hr teacher training. Continuing her education she did a second 200hr training at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago and began teaching out of training in 2007. She quickly taught classes all over the city, had several private clients, helped facilitate wellness programs in businesses, began teaching with YogaforWeddings.com and in 2010 she taught her first yoga retreat in Chacala, Mexico. That same year she moved to Bend where she teaches primarily at Groove Yoga. She recently received her 500hr training with Rolf Gates.
Throughout the course of her career Cynthia has had the great fortune to study with numerous master teachers and has done teacher trainings with Aadhil Palkhivala and Seane Corn. In 2009 she did the Off the Mat Into the World Intensive with Seane Corn, Hala Khouri and Suzanne Sterling. Not knowing at the time that the training was priming her for her work she currently does with a local non-profit, World Muse. World Muse provides women the tools to find and use their capabilities to create positive change in their lives, their communities, and the world. Cynthia works as an event director, creates curriculum and helps facilitates the yoga portion of workshops and events for the organization.
